This wa a sound and satisfactory performance but not a spectacular one.

Fulham’s recent cycle of victories is based upon a well-organised defence which has been returning clean sheets.

Fulham’s first half goals were due to some inept goalkeeping by Thomas Kaminski, who first failed to get his body behind a weak shot from Neco Williams and then parried the ball into the path of Neeskens Kebano to score.

Kaminski then also did not judge his run to block Tosin’s pass, allowing Wilson to loop the ball over his head, for the second.

There was not much to excite in the second half except Neco Williams beginning his dribble in his own penalty area and – just within the Blackburn half noticing Kamisnki off his line – lobbed him and hit the bar.

It would have been the Liverpool’s loanee first-ever goal and what a goal it would have been.

When I eventually got home after a three hour journey from Clapham Junction as Southern Fail always have railworks on a Saturday —arguably their busiest day – I watched the match again on television.

The penalties that we screamed for – on and off the pitch – were not, and the game was well analysed.
