The Tanner Report : Fulham 2 spurs 1

Prior to Fulham ‘s comfortable win over Spurs (2-1) I watched the  big match Revisited  featuring Chelsea 1 Arsenal 2 i guess in the early 70s It would be foolish to gloss over the problems in the game then ( racism on and off the pitch ,awful stadia , little for female fans ) but nonetheless I found myself nostalgic for those days. Thete was no VAR , football was on a Saturday afternoon at 3 pm and ticket proces were affordable. Brian z moore commentated soberly on the match without bombarding you with stats and appeared to have a genuine enthusiasm fot football , Jimmy Hill delivered a succinct summing up of the match.  zit was a time of great english forwards. off the top of my head  i can think of Kevin Keegan, Francis lee, Mick chanson, Martin Chivers ,Allan Clarke , David Johnson , Kevon Hector , Frank Worthington  , Rodney Marsh  Paul Matiner , Trevor Whymark Duncan mckenzie and Gary Birtles

As fot Sunday ‘s match Fulham could have won 5-0 if they took their chances. Spurs had no fighting spirit and the old adage ‘teams thet think they are too good to go doen do so ‘ seems apposite
