The Tanner Report: Millwall 0 Fulham 3
Fulham had a stern examination at Millwall, unbeaten since November, but passed it with flying colours. It was a shaky start when Millwall’s crosses tested a Fulham defence that is not always dominant aerially. I was impressed by Millwall. They play a physical game but not without skill. In the second half Fulham imposed themselves quickly with a Ryan Sessegnon goal when he was first to a shot of Mitrovic parried into the path of the wunderkid. Given that QPR recovered from a 2 goal lead, I was pleased that Kevin McDonald added a second. Mitrovic added a third for a comprehensive win. We now edge ahead of Cardiff in second place but the Bluebirds have two games in hand.
I watched and was impressed by the SKY coverage. Ex-Fulham keeper Mark Schwarzer was excellent on the technical side of goalkeeping whilst analyst Andy Hinchcliffe was acute in his contributions. I was delighted that SKY awarded man of the match to Kevin McDonald who not only worked so hard and crucially in front of the back four but also scored a vital goal. Tim Ream was also peerless at the heart of the Fulham defence. In dishing out the laurels, one must mention the refereeing of Andre Mariner who was never intimidated by the hostile atmosphere of the Den.
Fulham extended their winning run to 22 games and could win the next two and last of the season against Sunderland and Birmingham without achieving automatic promotion.
