Thoughts on the Ashes

I’m sure readers would not appreciate another depressing piece on the Ashes debacle down under.

I will merely quote that model of concision after a Cabinet reshuffle Clement Attlee: “Not good enough”

I will highlight the coverage.

Normally I follow TMS during the night but yesterday, as I could take no more of Alex Hartley the woman cricket international and her inane musings, I switched to BT Sport at 7 am.

David Gower presided here and I liked his calm approach and us being the same age.

I cared less for his interview with Lord Botham of Brexit.

The Aussie trade envoy has such a sure touch and experience of commerce that he was an early enthusiast for Allan Sandford.

BT Sport proved a better way to watch a meltdown and I enjoyed the comparison by Mike Hussey of Pat Cummins with Keith Miller.

I do not find the Aussie commentators too even-handed but Glenn McGrath seems so likeable and does wonderful charitable work.

I suspect  the England team are relieved to be going home

About Douglas Heath

Douglas Heath began his lifelong love affair with cricket as an 8 year-old schoolboy playing OWZAT? Whilst listening to a 160s Ashes series on the radio. He later became half-decent at doing John Arlott impressions and is a member of Middlesex County Cricket Club. He holds no truck at all with the T20 version on the game. More Posts
