Thoughts on the Six Nations

It was no surprise- ar least not to me-that France best Ireland 36-14 as ‘les blues’ have so many world class players ( Bielle Barrey, Dupont , Ramos ) and the men in green are past their sell by date.

England yesterday put 48  points past a feckless,  ill disciplined Welsh team – probably the worst I’ve seen.

The big  surprise was Scotland losing 18-15 to Italy  in a rain sodden Rome I felt they were taking a huge risk omitting Duhan Van der Merwe , Darcy Graham  and Blair Kinghorn for the Glasgow Warriors selected  Scotland are gloriously unpredictable and will doubtless be geared up against the ‘auld  Enemy ‘ at Murrayfield next Saturday.. However  the crucial game wil surely be France v England  France win the match ups and England’s only hope might be Gallic indiscipline

Finally the use of adverts in play by ITV is unwelcome and sets a bad precedent  . How long will it be before they are introduced during VAR deliberations?

About Sandra McDonnell

As an Englishwoman married to a Scot, Sandra experiences some tension at home during Six Nations tournaments. Her enthusiasm for rugby was acquired through early visits to Fylde club matches with her father and her proud boast is that she has missed only two England home games at Twickenham since 1995. Sandra has three grown-up children, none of whom follow rugby. More Posts
