Ukraine war: a heavyweight Brit broadcaster weighs in
Since the rogue President Putin ordered his armed forces to invade the Ukraine last week our television screens, radio airwaves, newspaper websites and social media outlets have been filled with wall-to-wall coverage of its progress and the reactions of governments and peoples around the world.
Even our own publisher has posted a piece on the website of this organ with some pithy comments on the West’s relatively toothless approach to strategic defence and indeed exerting influence upon Russia, effectively summarising it as little more than hot air apparently designed to impress audiences at home – rather than doing anything to assist Ukraine beyond providing military and general supplies – for fear of causing a wider conflict.
On the Rust we have never been shy of saluting those who choose journalism as a career and rise to positions of seniority and/or produce outstanding work.
In which context today I am pleased to be able to provide our readers with a link to a major piece on the Ukraine crisis by veteran broadcaster Andrew Neil that appeared recently upon the website of the Daily Mail:
