What shall we do?
The debate is no longer TV versus attendance but what either party will do in at least 6 weeks barren of sports?
The question was considered at a football lunch I attended yesterday.
One wag commented “”Think of the positive, Liverpool may never get the title!”
It’s possible if the Euros are postponed, as seems likely, the season can be extended but will there be time for the play-offs traditionally played in May over the Bank Holiday weekend.
There were many Fulham fans present that rejoiced at the thought of their team now third being promoted if no more games are played.
It could be easily be a sport-less summer.
What will we do? Will the birth rate rise? How will Sky Sports fill four channels and the press their sport pages? Will the sports betting industry survive, let alone aviation, hotels and event companies?
Walking down London’s Bond Street I have never seen it so deserted.
