Winter warming

There are those including me and several Rusters who cannot face the rigours of a British winter: the cold and a cold, dark nights etc.

Feelings of gloom are especially prevalent this time of year when the credit card bills descend and Xmas did not go not quite as expected.

November and February are also sensible times to enjoy the sun abroad.

The Caribbean is lovely but for those that fancy somewhere nearer the Canaries and West Africa entice.

Yet opening my blinds yesterday to a clear blue sky and beautiful dawn was uplifting – as was closing them to a wondrous orange winter sunset.

1000 year old Rottingdean, which I visited in the morning, sparkled as I enjoyed a flat white coffee over the beach and saw a hardy swimmer in the sea.

It’s picturesque high street, gardens and pond were redolent of merrie old England.

In short, it was a good-to-be-alive day.
