“Wokeness” is here to stay, folks …
Here are a selection of some latest media stories on the state of “wokeness” in the United Kingdom – and, inevitably, the Rust‘s “You couldn’t make it up” department would have had a field day with some of them:-
The University of Northampton has decreed that some of its students may find the “explicit material” in George Orwell’s classic novel 1984 “upsetting” – see here – DAILY MAIL
Not to be outdone, Bristol University has just decided that the term “maternity” is offensive to its transgender brigade – see here – DAILY MAIL
And then, of course, there are the poor, put-upon students at Oxford University taking PPE (Philosophy, Politics & Economics) courses, who have taken exception to the move to return to traditional (paper) exams taken in halls with time restrictions etc. – they have written to the authorities complaining that this will require them not only to have to “memorise large quantities of information” but also deny them the opportunity to bring in books, consult their notes and/or use Google.
Mind you, Oxford is not the only university where taking “proper” exams is apparently too much for our 21st Century young.
The student union at Southampton University is suggesting that they’ll leave some students “feeling unsafe”- see here – DAILY MAIL
