The Tanner Report: Fulham 3 Liverpool 2

Fulham maintained their inconsistency with a deserved but tense win over soon-to-be-crowned champions Liverpool.

Our defence – in which Calvin Bassey was outstanding – was heroic, dealing with everything Liverpool threw at them. The Liverpool defending was sloppy.

Liverpool took the lead after a wonderful strike from Alex Mac Allister when he burst through and shot from distance. The away side’s defending was cavalier.

We were delighted that the not-so-prodigal-son Ryan Sessegnon equalised then Alex Iwobi and Rodrigo Muniz, whose physicality proved a handful for van Dyck and Kanaté, added a third.

Jota’s goal in the second half made it 3-2 and memories of Liverpool’s late equaliser in a 2-2 draw at Anfield made for a tense final minutes.

The South Coast sides will have some bearing if Fulham are to claim 8th place and their highest points tally. Next Monday we go to Bournemouth and have still to visit relegated Southampton. Brighton are in 9th place but, according to Ivan Conway, are not playing that well.
