The digital age ….ugh

A common beef of us oldies and on the Rust is coping with the digital age. I suffered yesterday.

First up, my bank credit card was cancelled for no given reason as there was an “ issue”. This means I will have to contact all those who use it for renewal but will doubtless miss some company who will say there was an “issue “over payment.

Next I applied for the streaming TV service of a match of a football club. I had to go on line and after the normal faff was informed I need a laptop not iPad. I tried three more times and even the more expensive annual sub.

To my horror I received an email that I was successful four times and payment had been taken. At no stage in the process did I receive any notice that the transaction was concluded, payment taken, and I could now use the service.

Next I put on my main telly on and a sign came up that there was no service. Nothing unusual here, my 11 yer old godson explained that if I pushed the Sky button twice it would activate. Except it did not.

Another sign came up that it was initialling and I should return. I duly did so but no reception. I rebooted 6 times. I contacted my aerial man who could not come till Sunday.

SKY could not send out an engineer till after that. My handyman said the smaller TV in the bedroom might work but as the channel settings and been changed it required re-tuning. This I managed to do. My other TV in the drawing room is linked to the TV below and was non-operational.

Fortunately I have SKY GO too. Otherwise I would have no means of watching the weekend rugby something I have looked forward to with rare anticipation.

I yearn for those days when one button activates your television and bingo you could watch it. SKY charge £120 per month. Why cannot this include 24 hour maximum call out repair service?
