The Tanner Report: West Ham 1 Fulham 0
The drama came in extra time.
It seemed Fulham had held out for a draw when Thomss Soucek scored for West Ham in extra time though both managers agreed that Haller who knocked the ball down was offside .
Then, after consulting with the VAR team and the monitor ref Robert Jones awarded a penalty to Fulham.
Alex Mitrovic having missed one in our last away game at Sheffield United declined to take it because of a tight hamstring
Young Ademola Lookman took it and his feeble effort Panenka-style hardly reached the line and was easily saved by Fabianski.
You might have thought that the issue of penalty taker would have been sorted out on training. As it was West Ham players delayed the taking of the penalty, increasing the pressure, which clearly got to Lookman.
Fulham deserved a point but ended with none and the momentum of the WBA victory will be lost in the international break.
It was an evening of double frustration.
For some reason I was unable to purchase the game through my remote and, after a convoluted process of internet surfing, downloading apps and passwords that did not activate , believed I had.
When no game appeared I rang BT Sport and after hanging on for 15 minutes was informed I was not registered.
So I angrily followed the Fulham TV audio commentary of Gentleman Jim Mcgullion and Jamie Reid.
Their dejection at the finale was as eloquent as any picture but I was left thinking that at very least for £15 BT Sport might at least be able to supply the game.
After the international break we play Everton and Leicester City.
The season is unravelling like the relegation one 2 seasons ago when we are simply not accruing the points. Missed penalties cost us 4 points.
Not so much depressed by the lockdown as by the Lookman!
