Farewell Scott Parker

Opinion was divided amongst Fulham fans over Scott Parker’s three year tenure as Head Coach.

Some say it marked 3 relegations in two seasons, others that he achieved promotion from the Championship in his first full season.

The pandemic made management more difficult in many ways – fans do not appreciate, for example, that bubbles prevent easy promotion from the Academy to the first team squad or the mental consequences of lockdown, let alone games without fans. However, his critics will say that signing 7 loan players had nothing to do with the pandemic but we do not know if others in the recruitment process advocated this.

Our new head coach or manager has to adapt immediately, get on with the owner Shahid Khan and his son Tony, and make his mark on the squad.

In the past few seasons we have had Martin Jol, Felix Magath, Kit Symons, Rene Meulenstein, Claudio Ranieri , Slav Jokatovic, Scott Parker and the only the last two achieved.

There is also the pressure that if you do not get back to the so-called promised land first time out you may not at all … as Nottingham Forest, Middlesbrough, Stoke, Swansea, QPR , Sunderland, Ipswich, Derby County, Sheffield Wednesday and Sunderland have found.

I have a nasty feeling that Scott’s new club Bournemouth will be promoted but Fulham won’t.
