Fulham’s chances and others

Under the headline “Fulham look weakest team in the league” The Racing Post predicted Fulham would finish bottom. Another statistic I read was 57% of teams promoted in the play-offs get relegated first time as Fulham did two seasons ago.

Scott Parker and Vice Chairman Tony Khan who is in charge of transfer operations have something of a quandary.

About half of the first team have already played in the Premier without making an impact but the recruitment of two years ago produced as many failures.

So do they now stick or twist?

Personally I hope we stick to the team and crucially the spirit that produced promotion.

The squad  needs improvement especially in central defence.  I would like us to buy Callum Chambers from Arsenal, one of the few success stories of the relegation season.

He is best in the enforcing role but can play anywhere on the right side of defence.

The template is Brighton whose main aim is to finish 3 places above the mini-league at the bottom.

That means that heavy defeats at the hands of Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United are not as important as taking points off our peers.

Unlike the Championship you can predict the Premier top four which will surely include Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea with Arsenal chasing.

It’s more open at the other end.

I do not fancy WBA to stay up on recent from and there is always one middle to lower club who struggles and here I think Brighton will be the one.

I fancy Fulham will avoid the drop as I  but more crucially the team have  great faith in Scott Parker who  is calm and committed and will give survival his best shot.
