Just in

Saturday morning

This morning I awoke at my usual ungodly hour, fired up the computer and began going about my habitual business by visiting UK’s national newspaper websites (I assure you, the ‘serious ones’ only).

Later this morning I shall be going over the road – about 6.45am if I am on my normal schedule – to collect my newspapers from ‘Bob’, the sub-continent-originating proprietor of my local newsagent. I shall do so with some sympathy and concern.

Last weekend his shop was closed because he and his wife were otherwise engaged at the large wedding of his only daughter, after which she and her husband were off to spend two weeks on honeymoon at a famous resort in Jamaica.
