The dictatorship of the cycling brigade

Every stout and upright member of the British public over the aged of fifty will be familiar with the notion that the 21st Century’s “woke” Generation X do-gooders have a regrettable supposedly politically-correct stranglehold over the thinking and policies of the craven UK Government and all authorities and organisations that have anything to do with dealing with the concerns of the average person in the street.

For the benefit of Rusters everywhere, today I provide links to two media stories that I have spotted overnight:

It is an inescapable fact of life that cyclists are the scourge of the Earth.

All cyclists should be required to pass a proficiency riding test and pay for a licence costing £250 per annum to acquire the right to ride upon the roads of Britain at all.

They should also be disqualified from doing so for a minimum 10 years and fined £5,000 – plus also have their bicycle sent for scrap – if they are every caught “running” a red traffic light, riding the wrong way up a street and/or riding on a pavement, all of which should be reserved for the exclusive use of pedestrians.

As for the reason(s) for imposing these somewhat draconian penalties, I need do no more than link readers to this report on a new Government initiative which appears today upon the website of the – DAILY MAIL

For good measure, here is a link to columnist Richard Littlejohn’s latest offering on the subject of our lords and masters’ continuing drive to mess with our lives in the supposed causes of dealing with climate change and reducing carbon emissions, as also appears today on the website of the – DAILY MAIL
