The Great Difference

Watching the Charity Shield between Liverpool and Manchester City I was struck by one big difference between the men and women’s game: pace.

From the start Liverpool  maximised their pace on the right with Mo Salah and Trent Arnold.

Conversely the movement is much slower in the women’s game with the build-up more deliberate.

The BBC have been dealt a winning card by obtaining the rights to the Women’s Euros.

The media and the country have got Lioness fever and the Final is against England’s greatest rival whom we beat 56 years ago in the only soccer competition we have ever won.

The sisterhood can be triumphal and the misogyny watch is out in force.

I noticed that many of the Swedish players wore eye make-up to enhance their attraction but heaven help any male commentator that comments on that: he will be looking for a new job!
