The Tanner Report : Bournemouth 2 Fulham 1
This was Fulham’s fourth consecutive defeat in all competitions.
There are two explanations for this recent loss of form.
The first is the debacle at Old Trafford in the FA Cup when three red cards were brandished in 90 seconds. The second is complacency.
The aim of Fulham ‘s season is survival and once 39 points were reached the foot comes off the gas.
You can add a third – namely Joao Palhinha and Manor Salomon might be looking for new clubs.
We started brightly enough, dominating the first 35 minutes and going into half time one up through Andreas Pereira.
Bournemouth had more fire in their bellies and emerged in the second half a new and resolute side.
Marcus Tavernier scored a cracker from outside the box and then Solanke scored a messy winner.
It does not bode well that many of our remaining fixtures are against sides below us fighting for their lives (West Ham, Crystal Palace, Leicester City, Everton, Southampton) with two tricky games against both Manchester clubs.
We seem to have been stuck on 39 points for ages.
On Monday the tribunal passes judgment on Mitrovic.
The word is the club would accept a six game ban which seems proportionate given his disciplinary record, public and private apology to referee Chris Kavanagh and the offence itself.
The tribunal may be mindful of singling out smaller clubs.
