The Tanner Report: Brentford 3 Fulham 2

Brentford deserved to win the West London bragging rights but I drew some consolation that Chelsea, tenth in the Premier, were not involved.

Brentford came out out of the traps the livelier and might have opened their account before they did.

The goal which struck a Fulham defender to deflect past Bernd Leno had a touch of good fortune but no more than the home side deserved.

Gradually Fulham asserted themselves and, after a superbly-flighted free kick by Andreas Pereira had struck the bar, Manor Solomon headed home.

Brentford added two more in the Second Half.

Vinucius added to his tally with a goal in the dying embers

Fulham were always going to struggle with Joao Palhinha suspended but made life even more difficult as his substitute Sasha Lukic was booked and was lucky not to be red-carded after a cynical foul.

In the absence of Pahlinha and the injured Tom Cairney Fulham lacked midfield cover which does not bode well for Sunday’s visitors — Arsenal.
