The Tanner Report: Bristol City 1 Fulham 1

It was probably a fair reflection that the points were shared but both Bristol City and Fulham could have done with the three.

The goal that Fulham conceded was typical of many as the ball should have been cleared.

Fulham showed heart and intent especially Tom Cairney who had a magnificent game. He retrieved the ball outside the City box, moved it to his favoured left and clipped it home.

The last kick of  the match was by the City keeper after he fumbled on Tom Cairney but – absent VAR, absent the penalty. A few months ago that there was criticism of Tom Cairney for being overweight and not sufficiently influencing the play.

It was not without merit but the problem for him is that he is not allowed to play high up the field.

Yesterday Bristol old boy Bobby Decordova-Reid was playing so far upfield that at one point he headed weakly from a cross and – had he left it – Aleksandar Mitrovic was behind to him to head home.

I think Leeds, who Fulham play on March 18, will win the league but WBA – whom we meet on 18th April – can be overhauled.
