The Tanner Report: Crystal Palace 0 Fulham 2
Fulham, before Marco Silva, had a horrendous record in London derbies but this win made it 2 out of 2 in a week against West London and South London rivals.
Once again Harry Wilson scored and had two more chalked-off.
That form – and the imminent return to fitness of Sasa Lukic – gives Marco Silva a selection problem but (as the cliché goes) one that every coach likes.
One of his many strengths is his maintaining the esprit de corps of the group and competitiveness for every position.
It’s odd that Manchester United have opted for an unproven Portuguese coach in Reuben Amorim when Silva had done so well. Perhaps Man Utd were put off by an indifferent spell at Everton, but two Iberians – Unai Emery and Nuno Spiriro di Santo – have shown that success can be rediscovered after failure.
Another of Silva’s strengths is the ability to improve players like Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey. The net result is a team that is difficult to beat and may well qualify for the Conference League.
