The Tanner Report: Everton 1 Fulham 1 ( Fulham win 7-6 on penalties )

This will surely rank amongst Fulham’s finest wins on the road.

Everton’s recent form was better than Manchester City’s, they and their fans felt wronged by the 10 point deduction, Sean Dyche’s teams are always highly-motivated and there was a hostile atmosphere in the stadium.

Everton won both penalty shoot out tosses: to choose ends and to start.

Jordan Pickford was doing his utmost to put off the penalty taker.

Yet for all of this it is Fulham that is in the draw tonight. We would like Middlesbrough in the semi-finals and Chelsea at Wembley.

I wonder if Marco Silva has seen Dear England in which the failure to win shout-outs is discussed and resolved.  German penalty takers take 8 seconds, England were taking 5.

Fulham’s penalty takers took 8 seconds and stayed cool amidst the hostility of the fans and Pickford’s antics.

You have to go back to the FA Cup last 16 round in 1975 – when Everton were top of the table and we won there 2-1 – for a better away result.
