The Tanner Report: Fulham 0 Crystal Palace 3 ( FA Cup quarter final)

Fulham have had different ownerships, players, coaches and managers but one feature of the club always persists: inconsistency.

This season we have beaten Manchester Utd at Old Trafford, Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, Spurs at home and also drawn away but only achieved 2 points from Ipswich and  Southampton and lost to Wolves and Crystal Palace at home.

This was the biggest home Cup tie I can remember since playing Manchester Utd in the late 1970s and so all was set for another visit to Wembley 50 years after our first and only Cup Final, but if I was Pargie I would have backed against Fulham.

However, as the cliché goes, football is a game of fine margins. Two-nil down at half-time after starting brightly, Cabin Bassey had two attempts to score from close-in but did not convert.

Palace then scored a third.

Fulham still have a chance of finishing 8th, but with our next two games against Arsenal (away) and Liverpool (at home) it seems more likely we will finish twelfth.
