The Tanner Report: Fulham 0 Manchester City 3

Manchester City administered Fulham’s biggest defeat since Scott Parker overhauled the side.

No real surprise as before the game City led the Premiership by 14 points and are favourites to win the Champions League.

They could afford to leave Kevin De Bruyne, Alex Foden, Riyad  Mahrez, KyleWalker and Gundoyan on the bench and omit Raheem Sterling altogether.

Fulham more than held their own for the first half, going in 0-0.

However in a short period of 13 minutes at the start of the second half we were overwhelmed and before we knew it we were 3 down.

It requires such concentration to play City as the smallest error can and will be punished.

Even if City had not scored three they had so many options on the bench.

For all the praise Fulham attract we are still in the bottom three.

Sheffield United and WBA are gone, Burnley won so it looks like the final relegation position will be contested between Newcastle, Brighton and Fulham.

The games between Brighton and Newcastle coming up in a few weeks and Fulham v Newcastle – scheduled for the last game of the season – are going to be crucial.

There is some talk that every club should have a home match after restrictions are eased. In which case Southampton v Fulham may be the final game.

Scott Parker rightly states that we can only concentrate on our games and performances, not on our rivals.

We are playing well but we are still in the relegation zone suffering for the poor start to our campaign.
