The Tanner Report: Fulham 0 Manchester City 4

There is no disgrace in losing to Manchester City even though it was a thumping defeat containing only one Fulham attempt on goal.

Nor should this defeat disguise the fact that Fulham have had a creditable season in which we reached the semi-finals of the Carabou Cup, beat Spurs, Arsenal and Manchester Utd and are free of any relegation concerns.

At the start of the season we lost Alex Mitrovic and Silva and Willian might have taken the Saudi rial too.

With Willian, Tim Ream, now aged 35, and Diop looking hapless there will have to be a re-build in the summer with a central defender a top priority. Rodrigo Muniz has had a superb 2024 up front but cannot be expected to shoulder all the goalscoring duties.

So the forthcoming market will be interesting.

Young striker Jay Stansfield scooped all five awards at Birmingham City’s end of season dinner so he will be challenging for a place.

Can anything stop Manchester City?

Only the 115 charges of financial irregularity but so far they have blocked successfully a tribunal appearance.

They can afford £250m to strengthen their squad and preventing their rivals from doing so.
