The Tanner Report / Fulham 1 Millwall 0
Fulham recorded their first home win since September and only their second of the season in a hard fought game in bitter cold by the Thames. To the extent any football was played it came from Fulham with our pleasing passing game but it had little end product and the more direst robust style from Millwall resulted in two attempts that hit the woodwork. Without player of the season Kevin McDonald, central defender Tim Ream and forward Floyd Ayite, we were obliged to play the hat trick hero of Sheffield Ryan Sessegnon at left back. Midfielder Stefan Johansen looked off the pace but Oliver Norwood put in a good shift scoring the only goal from a penalty somewhat fortunately awarded for a
foul on Rui Fonte in the box from his corner. Norwood did what every Fulham player failed to do last season … he converted a penalty.
Keepr David Button had a nervy game, his distribution was poor and he flapped at crosses. He had weak performance at Sheffield so we might see Marcus Bettinelli between the posts for the West London derby at Brentford next week. We are just about hanging in there after a 6 point week put us up the table but we still to convince this fan and many others that we are a play-off outfit.
