the Tanner Report: Fulham 1 Notttingham Forest 0

‘1-0 to the Arsenal’ was a chant that ringed out in the George Graham management era as his team ground out à result. It could have been applied to Fulham’s victory over Nottingham Forest which was a dull affaire. The main benefit for Fulham was that the 3 points achieved put clear blue water between us and the relegation pack .

The goal came in injury time in the first half when Kevin who before and after lacked incisiveness in the final third was upended i’n the Forest box. Despite the antics of the Forest keeper Victor who was booked for them Raul Jimenez made it 11 out of 11 buy converting the penalty. The game reverted to its dire state neither team mustering any meaningful shots on goal.

my man of the match was Fulham’s right back Kenny Teté who not only extinguished the à forest threat down his flank but got foreard to some effect. Over the years I’ve supported  Fulham we have had some notable right backs; George Cohen, Ray Evans, Paul Parker , Steve Finnan and now Kenny Teté but oddly enough the left backs have not been as good. Probably the best is the current Antonee Robinson but he looks rusty after  a long kay off. Ryan Sessegnon is another worthy of mention though he may be better as a scoring mobile wing. back and Paul Konchesly is another who never let us down Older fans will recall Jim Langley he of the. bandy legs and long throw. I once attended a fulham lunch when à fan of langley claimed he never missed a penalty only to be corrected. by Fulham historian Denis Turner ‘yes he did against Walsall in  a cup replay c

But back to the present . If Fulham manage a pint against west Ham this Saturday all relegation fears should be eliminated Thw 3 AFCON players for Nigeria Samuel Chukwueze  , Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey will be back bone and Muniz over his injury should relieve the pressure on Raul Jimenez. Fulham should achieve a mid table position but will Marvo Silva sign a new contract?
