The Tanner Report: Fulham 2 Leeds 1
Fulham’s third victory over Leeds this season was a tad unconvincing.
There definitely is an air of complacency as the key target of staying up has been achieved coupled with the absence of Alex Mitrovic.
One might also add a gutless Leeds side whose performance reminded me of many in Fulham’s two preceding Premier relegation seasons.
Both Fulham goals were due to the Leeds keeper Illian Mignier flapping at crosses: Harry Wilson rapping in a highish ball was highly skilful and this player’s goals and contribution from midfield has lessened the absence of Mitrovic.
This is why Fulham – and indeed Brighton and Brentford – occupy top ten positions above Chelsea, namely the head coach has to rely on what he has, not indulge himself in the transfer market thus making a final selection so difficult.
Owner Shahid Khan has defended the hike in prices with the sustainability argument.
It is his wealth that has twice taken Fulham to the Premier as well as his appointment of Jokatovic, Scott Parker and Marco Silva.
Equally there does seem to be an absence of consultation too. There is also the perception that the loyalty of fans is no longer a substantial financial element in a club’s finances.
