The Tanner Report: Fulham 3 Derby 0

Fulham coasted to victory over Derby who did not manage one shot on target. It was too easy a win to make for a captivating game unlike the derby against QPR last Friday.

I went with an old school friend who is the son of TV and film character actor Sam Kydd. His father made nearly 300 films in the golden age of British cinema where there were many more studios.

Sam Kydd would film crossing a square, rush off to another studio and then return in the afternoon to be filmed arriving at the other end of the square.

Casting tend to be based on the rank you held so Sam Kydd was usually cast as a private or rear gunner whilst Richard Todd, who was a more senior officer in the war, got the officer roles.

It was all fascinating stuff -I wish Neil Rosen was there – and his son has not let the family down as he is the King of Voiceovers.

It was game too to have a look at the programme and here Abe Morris was featured. One of the rare Jewish footballers, he was seen climbing into a nurses room in a Cardiff hotel and dubbed “the Cardiff Casanova.” He scored 2 goals every 3 games for Brentford and Swindon and became a diplomat.

I would love to read his biography.

So Fulham now go to Swansea, a top 6 side, this Friday and then play Bristol City, Preston, and Leeds. We are hopeful we will repeat the 23 game non-losing run beginning in December 2017 that took us into the play-offs two years ago.

Sadly the prodigal son Abou Kamara who delivered a teasing cross for Bobby Decordova-Reid to score his first goal for Fulham had to come off after a challenge from Curtis Davies.

Football can be such a tough game: he has deservedly worked his way into the side and the affections of the crowd and the team only to lose his place through injury.
