The Tanner Report: Fulham 3 Millwall 0
Millwall, with their raucous fans and often uncompromising style on the pitch, are never easy opponents but Fulham beat them without reaching top gear.
Alex Mitrovic scored his 29th and 30th goals of the season and Ivan Toney of Brentford’s record of 31 Championship goals is firmly within his sights.
Mitro has scored more goals personally than most teams in the Championship.
Bobby Decordova-Reid came off the bench to add the third.
The bench contained Jean Michel Seri and Harrison Reed. That depth of talent is one of the reasons Fulham top the Championship by 8 points.
At the end of the game the players, coach Marco Silva and his number two Luis Boa Morte walked over to the Hammersmith End where at the last home game v Blackpool supporter Pail Parish lost his life .
His daughter Clare and granddaughter Felicity were at the game.
All credit to Millwall fans, who do not always enjoy the best of reputations, who joined in the standing tribute to Paul Parish in the 11th minute.
Fulham are a family club and commentator Gentleman Jim McGullion was so moved that his voice faltered.
In the transfer window we said goodbye to Dennis Odoi who moved to FC Bruges.
We have had many forgettable defenders over the last few years but Dennis was not one of them.
His hey day – good and bad – was the play-offs of 2018.
He scored with a header against Derby in the semi-final from a corner. In the final versus Aston Villa he”took one for the team” to be red-carded on the hour.
He could play anywhere across the back four. As a great clubman he supported the Fulham Foundation and – fluent in French – welcomed many a French-speaking new signing to the club.
Dennis – like his namesake Dennis Turner who died 8 years ago – will be sorely missed.
