The Tanner Report on the last rites

Relegation duly happened last night at Vicarage Road where Fulham were crushed 4-1 by Watford.

Fulham more than held up in a first half which ended on even terms and Zambo Anguissa had his best game yet but once again goals were too easily conceded and the home side ran out easy winners.

Now the focus must be on the Championship and selecting players that will play there, not leave at the end of this season. Tom Cairney and Ryan Sessegnon need to be secured.

Scott Parker – with 5 straight losses – has not done enough to make his job permanent.

The whole recruitment structure needs overhaul. I would also give Academy prospects their chance – how exciting would it be for such a player to make his debut before a big crowd but with no pressure as nothing alters the position now?

There is a lot of criticism of the Khans. I hope this does not turn abusive at the Cottage as they must have invested £300 million in the club and we are unlikely to find a buyer and if we do will he be any better?

A new manager need to be appointed but he should have far more control over acquisitions.

About Alan Tanner

After a distinguished military service in the Catering Corps, Alan Tanner did well in mufti with his chamois as a window cleaner. Sadly he had to retire after falling from the fifth floor of Danny Murphy's mock Tudor home. He spends his retirement watching and writing about his beloved Fulham whom he has supported for over 50 years. The Alan Tanner Report is sponsored by Tanner Crystal Clear Ltd, Window Cleaners to the Gentry. More Posts
