The Tanner Report: Swansea 1 Fulham 5

After a sterile first half performance,  Fulham rediscovered their scoring mojo and for the 6th time this season scored more than four goals.  The crucial moment was the dismissal of Swansea’s skipper Ryan Manning.   Reduced to 10 men they could not counter Fulham’s attacking brio.   After Alex Mitrovic -who else? – scored just after the break , The underrated Bobby Decordova-Reid and Neco Williams each scored a brace.   Neco Williams went close against Blackburn in opening his  Fulham  account with a 50 yard chip but did so last night with the second a particularly impressive strike.  He and fellow Welsh youngster Harry Wilson are so effective on the right.   Indeed I would say they are the best right sided partnership since Steve Finnan and Bjarne  Goldbsek some  twenty years ago.

Fulham now top the Champoondbhip with 70 p0ints.  87 points should guarantee promotion.  I suspect we will be speculating less now on achieving promotion and more on avoiding a third relegation. Do we recruit new players or remain loyal to the promoted side? Norwich and Watford who achieved automatic promotion ditched their managers and look set for a speedy return.  Brentford who took the play off route look like enjoying another season in the top flight.

What is best? It’s a nice problem to have

About Alan Tanner

After a distinguished military service in the Catering Corps, Alan Tanner did well in mufti with his chamois as a window cleaner. Sadly he had to retire after falling from the fifth floor of Danny Murphy's mock Tudor home. He spends his retirement watching and writing about his beloved Fulham whom he has supported for over 50 years.
