The Tanner Report: WBA 2 Fulham 2
This was the archetypal game of two halves.
Fulham might have been three up at half time but scored only the one from Bobby Decordova- Reid. He was unlucky when another shot struck the post.
You could see why WBA lost their last 4 home games conceding 17 goals and scoring none in the process.
Their manager Sam Allardyce must have read them the Riot Act at half-time as in the second half they took the game to Fulham with new signing Mbaye Diagne spearheading their revival.
They equalised and took the lead leaving Fulham ruing their missed chances.
Now Fulham revived and Ivan Cavalleiro nodded home Harrison Reed’s cleverly-flighted cross.
Tactically I felt Scott Parker should have chosen Harrison Reed from the start, who is a scrapper, than the more languid Lemina.
Reed would have protected the back four better from the inevitable second half onslaught.
It was an entertaining game – much better than Arsenal 0 Manchester United 0.
However the table shows Fulham still in the bottom three. We have gone 8 games without a win and only achieved 2 all season.
If you regard 38 points as safe we need 24 points or 8 wins from the remaining 18 games. We play Leicester City and West Ham next, both teams having excellent seasons.
It’s a tough ask.
