The Tanner Report/Fulham 1 Brighton 2

Once again a contrite Ivan Conway observed post-match “we mugged you again.” Brighton won a game which Fulham dominated.

But, hey, if you miss a penalty (our 4th such miss at home) you don’t deserve to win.

martin2As galling was the fact that our penalty taker Chris Martin does not want to play for us any more and was absent.

Chris Hughton’s game management, especially in terms of subs, was also much more effective. We now have a predictable crisis with forwards. Floyd Ayite  is out for the month on African Nations Cup duty, Chris Martin wants away and Cauley Woodrow is going out on loan so we only have at our disposal Matt Smith and rookie Steve Humphreys.

Smith who was at least preoccupying the Brighton central defenders (one of whom scored the winner) was subbed for a fullback and Humphreys was responsible for the Brighton winner.

We are now 10th and Barnsley, who we play on Saturday week, are 6th: a must-win game to stay in touch.
