The Tanner Report/ Fulham 4 Ipswich 1
Older fans will recall Boxing Day 1963 when Fulham laid waste 10-1 to Ipswich and lost 2-4 four days later. Graham Leggat scored a hat trick in 4 minutes. No such free scoring yesterday but we did manage 4 goals in 7 minutes. In fact we dominated play from the start but, for the umpteenth time, failed to deal with a lateral ball, Joe Garner heading home for the visitors. 2 from Abdou Kamara and 2 from Ryan Sessegnon in the second half saw Fulham home comfortably without needing the penalty when Piazon was tripped only to be booked for simulation.
Inevitably with the transfer window open there is speculation over Sessegnon. Personally I hope he stays to get game experience which no Premier outfit can offer. Jose Mourinho has a long and undistinguished record of breaking players and Spurs have much competition. On present form he might just make the England World Cup squad and then the international stage.
Kamara’s good form has coincided with the demand for a finisher so interest there too. He is raw but has come good as a finisher, netting 4 over the festive period. Many hope we persevere with him. Things are looking up at the Cottage with Fulham on a good run with 11 points from 12.
