The Tanner Report: Ipswich 1 Fulham 3 Caribou Cup

Fulham’s mainly reserves overcame Ipswich’s reserves 3-1 comfortably.

Leicester City are running away with the Championship after relegation and clearly there is a gulf between the Premiership and the Championship.

This is also reflected in some players on view last night. Cameron Burgess, the 28 year old Ipswich defender, was a product of the Fulham academy – playing 4 games for us.

Christian Walton, the Ipswich keeper, was  highly rated at Brighton but never made the superior grade as Brighton established themselves in the top flight.

As for the game, Harry Wilson opened the scoring with a well-taken shot, Rodrigo Muniz added a second – an unusual event for a Fulham striker – and Tom Cairney netted a third with his trusted left foot.

Ipswich scored a consolidation goal.

Their young manager McKenna is concentrating on their league campaign.

As someone who always has a soft spot for the Suffolk side, where you are assured the warmest of welcomes, I wish them well.

As for Fulham before the Manchester United game there is a demonstration against the ticket prices in the new stand.

I wonder how many of these malcontents sit in the reasonably-priced season tickets or remember the owners who were there just to profit from selling our ground?

Fulham are on mid-table, playing good football with a bright coach, so what are they moaning about?

About Alan Tanner

After a distinguished military service in the Catering Corps, Alan Tanner did well in mufti with his chamois as a window cleaner. Sadly he had to retire after falling from the fifth floor of Danny Murphy's mock Tudor home. He spends his retirement watching and writing about his beloved Fulham whom he has supported for over 50 years.
